President Donald Trump claimed Friday that he rejected an interview and photo shoot from Time magazine for its Person of the Year issue.

A former Time editor, Richard Stengel, trolled Trump on the boast, saying the offer was likely a sign he wasn’t the top choice.

Stengel’s last jab refers to a Washington Post story last June that revealed framed pictures of Trump as a supposed Man of the Year choice were hanging in his golf clubs.

Late Friday night, Time itself disputed the president.

There was some not so gentle ribbing from other Twitter posters as well.

Trump was named the Person of the Year in 2016, and finished second to German Chancellor Angela Merkel in 2015, which he was snarky about.

The magazine’s announcement will come Dec. 6.
