The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have issued a stark warning to healthcare professionals saying "now is the time to prepare" for an Ebola outbreak.
According to
the Washington Examiner, the CDC has issued a six-page checklist to help healthcare employees determine if patients are infected with the virus. While the department does not suggest that there are new cases of the deadly disease in the United States, it has suggested that it may not be long before doctors need to be concerned about it spreading.
"Every hospital should ensure that it can detect a patient with Ebola, protect healthcare workers so they can safely care for the patient, and respond in a coordinated fashion," the CDC said in its alert.

"While we are not aware of any domestic Ebola Virus Disease cases (other than two American citizens who were medically evacuated to the United States), now is the time to prepare, as it is possible that individuals with EVD in West Africa may travel to the United States, exhibit signs and symptoms of EVD, and present to facilities," the noticed added.
The checklist recommends that healthcare providers plan regular briefings for decision — makers about suspected and confirmed EVD patients that have been identified and reported to public health authorities; isolation, quarantine, and exposure reports; and supplies and logistical challenges, including contingency plans for staff.
The advice has been distributed to major hospitals, and a number of facilities and medical websites have begun to post it online.
