Politico editor Michael Hirsh resigned Tuesday after calling for a baseball bat attack on white supremacist leader Richard Spencer and posting his home addresses on Facebook, the Daily Mail reports.
Spencer leads the National Policy Institute, which describes itself as "an independent organization dedicated to the heritage, identity, and future of people of European descent in the United States, and around the world."
The group has drawn ire for supporters chanting "Hail Trump" and giving Nazi salutes at its annual conference in Washington last Saturday.
Hirsh took to Twitter and Facebook to voice his disapproval Tuesday of Spencer, tweeting Americans should "stop whining about Richard B. Spencer," who he called a "Nazi," and to "exercise your rights as decent Americans."
Hirsh then published Spencer's home addresses on Facebook and, then responded someone asking him what they should do with the information, "Send a letter?"
Hirsh wrote: "I wasn't thinking of a f***ing letter, Doug."
"He lives part of the time next door to me . . . Our grandfathers brought baseball bats to Bund meetings. Want to join me?"
Hirsh resigned within hours.
