President Donald Trump's re-election campaign still owes the city of El Paso, Texas, about $470,000 for a rally staged in February, ABC News is reporting.
Most of the money is going to pay for police, buses, and extra fire protection. An invoice was sent to the Trump campaign March 27 with a due date of April 26.
To date, El Paso officials have not seen one dime, according to the network news.
A counter-rally, staged by Democrat Beto O'Rourke, who is now running for president, cost the city just under $29,000. The money has been paid in full by O'Rourke officials.
A letter sent to the Trump campaign by El Paso stated: "Failure to pay your past due balance or to make acceptable payment arrangement within 30 days from the date of this notice (May 23) may result in your account being charged a one-time collection fee of 21% on your gross account receivable balance."
Michael Glassner, chief operating officer with the Trump campaign noted: "Since 2015, the Trump Campaign has held nearly 550 rallies all over the country, and this invoice is roughly 10 times the amount that a locality generally asks to be reimbursed. We are reviewing it."
But city Rep. Alexsandra Annello is quoted by the El Paso Times as saying: "It shows a lack of concern for the community and the tax paying voters of El Paso."
