Elon Musk on Tuesday spoke at a Republican retreat hosted by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., in Wyoming.
McCarthy refused to confirm or deny Musk's attendance at an event, for "members, donors, and candidates," to Bloomberg.
"I am not going to talk about that," he told Bloomberg in a telephone interview from his hotel room in Teton Village, Wyoming.
A source confirmed Musk's attendance at the event to The Hill.
The event was held on the same day as the Wyoming primaries, which included Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., being defeated in her run for reelection. She was beaten soundly by Harriet Hageman, who was supported by former President Donald Trump and McCarthy.
The Hill said Rep. Anthony Gonzalez, R-Texas, posted a photo of himself and Musk shaking hands on Tuesday, with the caption: "We should be actively inspiring great things."
Former State Department spokesman Morgan Ortagus posted a photo with Musk on Tuesday, tagging Jackson Hole, Wyoming, on Instagram.
Billionaire Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has donated to Republican and Democrat candidates and campaign committees since making his first contribution in 2003, Bloomberg reported.
The outlet said Musk's biggest financial investment, some $128,900, has been in committees connected with McCarthy.
Musk took to social media on Tuesday night to comment on his political stance.
"To be clear, I support the left half of the Republican Party and the right half of the Democratic Party!" Musk tweeted.
In July, Musk said it was time for Trump to "hang up his hat."
"I don't hate the man, but it's time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset," Musk tweeted July 11. "Dems should also call off the attack — don't make it so that Trump's only way to survive is to regain the Presidency."
In June, Musk took to Twitter to point out his first-ever vote for a Republican candidate, and said he was leaning toward supporting Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis in the 2024 presidential election.
Musk said that he voted for Republican Mayra Flores, who won a special election for the U.S. House seat in Texas District 34.
"I voted for Mayra Flores — first time I ever voted Republican," Musk tweeted. "Massive red wave in 2022."
