Elon Musk on Friday said he will give $1 million checks to two Wisconsin residents who signed a petition expressing their opposition to "activist judges."
Musk, whose super PAC offered Wisconsinites $100 to sign the petition, made the announcement with a post on X.
The SpaceX and Tesla CEO wrote his afternoon post to clarify that recipients would be people who signed his super PAC's petition.
"On Sunday night, I will give a talk in Wisconsin," Musk posted Friday afternoon. "To clarify a previous post, entrance is limited to those who have signed the petition in opposition to activist judges."
"I will also hand over checks for a million dollars to two people to be spokesmen for the petition."
Musk's clarification followed a post shortly after midnight when he announced the giveaway plan for two event attendees who had voted. However, that post was deleted after legal experts raised concerns it would violate state law, Politico reported.
Musk and progressive billionaire George Soros are funding respective sides in an April 1 race to determine the ideological makeup of the Supreme Court in the battleground Badger State, Newsmax's John Gizzi wrote last week.
The election pitting liberal Democrat Susan Crawford against conservative Republican Brad Schimel is on target to be the most expensive race for a state Supreme Court seat in U.S. history.
