Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, who recently closed on a deal for Twitter, admitted on Monday that the social media giant has a left-wing bias when enforcing its content standard policy.
The billionaire answered a Twitter post from conservative political commentator Mike Cernovich, who tagged Musk's account while complaining that Twitter failed to act on an alleged incitement of violence from Rewire News Group reporting fellow Caroline Reilly.
"More of this. may these people never know a moment of peace or safety until they rot in the ground," Reilly tweeted in support of vandalism against a pro-life group in Madison, Wisconsin, reported on by The New York Times.
Cernovich responded: "Here you go @elonmusk, when Twitter employees invariably lie to you about enforcement policy, maybe they can explain why a verified account is allowed to incite terrorism without any care in the world about being banned."
"It doesn't even occur to this journalist that she would be banned for directly inciting terrorism. 0 to fear as this view is more likely shared by a preponderance of Twitter's employees," he continued, adding that the conservative parody news outlet Babylon Bee was temporarily suspended for a "joke" in late March.
Musk responded to Cernovich acknowledging the double standard.
"Twitter obv [obviously] has a strong left wing bias," Musk shockingly stated.
"Like I said, my preference is to hew close to the laws of countries in which Twitter operates. If the citizens want something banned, then pass a law to do so, otherwise it should be allowed," he added.
Reilly has since deleted the controversial tweet and has deactivated her Twitter account.
