Less than a week after the New York Times/Siena College poll showed Republican Sen. Dean Heller leading Democratic Rep. Jacky Rosen by a slim 2 percent margin, 47 to 45, another poll gave Heller, considered one of two vulnerable GOP senators, a commanding seven-point lead.

According to an Emerson College survey released on Monday, Heller is up 48 to 41 percent among likely voters in the Silver  State (with 11 percent undecided).  The margin of error is 4.2 percent points.

Coupled with the fresh lead Emerson showed for Republican Adam Laxalt in the race for governor, the latest polling indicates a Republican trend in the state narrowly carried by Hillary Clinton in 2016.

“There are a lot of factors, but one big one is the motivation Republicans have from the way Democrats in the Senate treated [Supreme Court Justice Brett] Kavanaugh,” Nevada’s GOP National Committeeman Joe W. Brown told Newsmax. “When they clearly denied him due process, Republicans got worked up and said ‘let’s get out there and vote.’”
