Greta Van Susteren on Friday speculated that the FBI might have told CNN that they were about to arrest longtime Republican operative Roger Stone, and allowing them time to film it.
The FBI arrested Stone Friday morning on charges involving special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, including obstruction of justice, making false statements and witness tampering.
CNN had a camera crew on the ground outside Stone’s residence in Fort Lauderdale, Florida when he was arrested, prompting van Susteren to wonder how they knew to be there.
“CNN cameras were at the raid of Roger Stone...so FBI obviously tipped off CNN...even if you don’t like Stone, it is curious why Mueller’s office tipped off CNN instead of trying to quietly arrest Stone; quiet arrests are more likely to be safe to the FBI and the person arrested,” she tweeted early Friday morning.
She later admitted that “Upon reflection, there are others who could have tipped off CNN ...others knew, maybe even Stone suspected it and tippped them off...if I worked for a news org and had the tip, I would have sent cameras.”
