Brendan Carr, who sits on the Federal Communications Commission, is ripping Twitter for temporarily suspending the conservative Comfortably Smug account.
Carr tweeted Tuesday: "Hard to see how this @ComfortablySmug tweet - which combined known examples of political satire - violated Twitter's rules against abuse and harassment."
Comfortably Smug was suspended on Monday after reportedly tweeting: "Where's Hunter, Fat?" According to the Washington Examiner, the tweet referenced the son of former Vice President Joe Biden. It also reportedly referred to a comment Joe Biden made where he appeared to call a voter "fat" during a campaign event.
Meanwhile, Comfortably Smug's account was up and operating again Tuesday.
A spokesperson told the Examiner the suspension came after Democrats "systemically" targeted the account.
"We call on the Democrats to stop this targeted harassment and for Twitter to investigate this abuse of their reporting process to silence critics," the spokesperson said.
