The Rev. Franklin Graham said Friday that the Benghazi hearing featuring former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made clear that "we have a serious political divide and our country is in trouble."
Graham, 63, head of both the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and the Samaritan's Purse global charity, made the remark on Twitter:
The post included a
Facebook link in which he expressed astonishment that the hearing lasted 11 hours. "Incredible," he said.
"I watched about an hour of the marathon testimony that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave before Congress as the committee was trying to get to the truth.
"To be honest with you, I’m not sure if we’ll ever know the truth about what happened at Benghazi," Graham continued. "Those lives won’t ever be brought back.
"But one thing is clear — there is a serious divide between Republicans and Democrats, and our country is in trouble. We need new leadership — leaders that understand the importance of God’s laws and biblical morality.
"Let’s pray for our nation, for those in political office, and that God in His mercy will give us new leaders that look to Him," Graham said before ending the post by quoting Psalm 33:12:
"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord."
