Franklin Graham: US Should End All Immigration to Fix 'Broken' System

The Rev. Franklin Graham said Tuesday that the United States should end all immigration until a "broken" system is fixed.

"I think we should put a halt on immigration, because our borders are broken, until we have a proper system to vet people," he told Carol Costello on CNN. "I think all immigration, but especially those coming from the Middle East right now."

Graham, head of both the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and the Samaritan's Purse global charity, has stepped up his call for halting all immigration in light of the Paris attacks and the Dec. 2 San Bernardino shootings.

He has spoken regularly on the issue on both Facebook and Twitter.

He also supports Republican front-runner Donald Trump's call for banning Muslims from entering the country out of terrorism concerns.

Graham told CNN that Islam was not compatible with American values, and — as such — the government might have to shut down mosques.

"We might have to at some point," he said. "I don't know."

"We have a responsibility — our government, the president, our Congress — has a responsibility to protect all Americans."

Graham said he "loves Muslims" and "works with Muslims."

On Jan. 5, the son of the legendary evangelist Billy Graham will begin a tour of all 50 states capitals holding prayer rallies. It starts in Des Moines, CNN reports.

"I'm asking for Christians to join me — or anybody — to join me at the capital and to pray for our nation," he said. "Everybody's welcome. Absolutely. Muslims will be welcomed."
