The liberal media highlighted the significance of dozens of Palestinians killed on the Gaza border trying to infiltrate into Israel on the same day as the American embassy officially moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem only as an attempt to damage President Donald Trump's achievement, US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman wrote in a column for Fox News.

Friedman said that the embassy opening "was a moving tribute to the enduring and unique friendship between our nation and the State of Israel" that had widespread bipartisan support, a move which previous presidents, both Democrat and Republican, had promised to carry out but failed to do.

Friedman said that such a beautiful and uplifting event should have been cheered by Americans on both sides of the aisle, but that the liberal media was so enraged by "yet another diplomatic triumph" by Trump that they had to find a negative angle.

"Desperate for a narrative to discredit the president's decision to move our embassy to Jerusalem, they broadcast the opening ceremony on a split screen simultaneously displaying the Gaza riots, and condemned the insensitivity of the ceremony's participants to the carnage that seemed next door on TV but which in actuality was occurring 60 miles away!"

Friedman pointed out that among the approximately 60 Gazans who were killed by Israeli forces, the overwhelming majority were known Hamas terrorists, and that "No nation in the world allows foreigners to storm its border. Period."

He added that "When the declared intention of the aggressors is to kill that nation's citizens, it is laughable to even suggest that a forceful response would not ensue."

However, the ambassador contended, this did not stop the liberal media from vilifying "everyone associated with the embassy move and glorifying the poor Hamas terrorists," even though not one commentator offered any less-lethal alternative Israel could have used to defend its border.

Friedman made it clear that "Every life is equally precious, whether Jewish, Palestinian or other. But no nation should ever be called upon to sacrifice its own citizens to preserve the lives of aggressive infiltrators intent on murder and mayhem."

He insisted that Hamas had even been considering stopping its suicidal assaults on the Israeli border that it has been carrying out for the past several weeks before the embassy opening, but "seeing the opportunity to curry the front page or the A Block from reporters willing to shed a negative light on our president, Hamas enthusiastically launched its youth back into the fire."
