President Donald Trump will beat a hasty retreat from the Group of Seven Nations industrialized summit.

The White House announced Thursday night the president would leave the G-7 gathering in Canada at 10:30 a.m. ET on Saturday and head directly to Singapore, where he will meet June 12 with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Politico reported.

The G-7 summit is scheduled to wrap up later Saturday.

Before the announcement, President Emmanuel Macron of France and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada both promised to confront Trump over his recent decision to impose tariffs on U.S. allies.

Trump scolded the leaders in separate tweets.
