Newsmax rarely offers an endorsement for a candidate in a Republican primary, but there is a special reason to come out in support of Rep. Jack Kingston, who is seeking the GOP nomination to replace retiring Sen. Saxby Chambliss in Georgia, in this Tuesday’s primary elections.
That reason is Kingston's main opponent in the May 20 primary, businessman David Perdue, a candidate who is far from the mold of a true Reagan Republican.
Perdue has said he has "no problem" with President Barack Obama's Common Core educational standards – a federal program that most conservatives oppose.
Perdue also serves on the board of a company that took $3.4 million in the Obama stimulus funding program that Republicans opposed as nothing more than a boondoggle.
Recently, candidate Perdue has stated that to fix the deficit we need to increase revenue to get the country out of an "economic ditch."
That means only one thing -- increasing taxes! Such a move that would be harmful to U.S. economic growth. The federal government doesn’t have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem.
Worse, Perdue earlier said he supported the Internet Sales Tax, which could boost taxes on Americans by billions and billions of dollars.
Perdue does have considerable experience in the business sector and he is a welcome addition to the GOP. But he is not the best candidate to lead the state of Georgia in the U.S. Senate.
Jack Kingston is the best candidate.
Unlike Perdue, Kingston has had a solid career as a consistent, clear conservative. A member of the House since 1993, he was part of the "Newt Gingrich Revolution" that eliminated welfare and balanced the federal budget for the first time in decades. He is strong on defense and family values.
He is, in short, the real “Reagan” deal.
There is one other key reason why he deserves support from GOP voters: While there are a number of good candidates seeking the GOP senate nomination along with Kingston and Perdue, Kingston is the one candidate most likely to win in November.
Kingston’s victory Tuesday is crucial to the GOP's efforts to take control of the Senate and restore sanity to government. If the GOP takes control of the Senate, the Obama agenda will be stopped and Republicans can focus on rolling back Obamacare.
The primary is now just days away.
Please share these thoughts with family and friends, and join businessman and former presidential candidate Steve Forbes, former Georgia Sen. Mack Mattingly, and others who have strongly come out in support of Rep. Jack Kingston for the U.S. Senate.
Said Mattingly: "Jack Kingston works in the true conservative tradition of Ronald Reagan. A great unrelenting conservative vision and drive to get things done are the trademarks of both Reagan and Kingston, and we need Jack in the U.S. Senate."
