Giuliani: Gun Control Won't Stop Terrorist Attacks

By    |   Sunday, 06 December 2015 10:00 PM EST

Gun control efforts espoused by President Barack Obama and other Democrats will not stop terrorist attacks like last week's mass shooting in San Bernardino that killed 14 people, says former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

"This kind of military assault has nothing to do with gun control," Giuliani said Sunday on "The Cats Roundtable" on AM 970 in New York.  "It has to do with jihad. They want to impose their religion on us."

Giuliani, who worked as a federal prosecutor before his time as mayor, told host John Catsimatidis, "If I ever relied on gun control to get rid of the Mafia, the Mafia would still be as powerful as it was 30 years ago."

Former New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly also appeared on the show, saying "We’re going to see more of these … This is clearly a terrorist attack."

Both men say they favor off-duty police officers being allowed to bring their guns to NFL games to fight terrorism.

"I know if it were me, I'd like to carry [my gun] in the stadium," Kelly said.

Police "should be allowed to carry their guns to NFL games," Giuliani said. "If, God forbid, something goes wrong, I want that [officer] armed."
