The outcome of next week's elections will hinge on voter turnout just like in 2016, pollster John McLaughlin told Newsmax TV.
And McLaughlin told Thursday's "America Talks Live" and said the Republican Party will need a strong showing at the polls to keep its grip on the House majority.
"The 139 million people that voted in 2016 won't probably come out this time," McLaughlin said. "Some of them will stay home. Midterm elections, we had 83 million come out in 2014, we had 90 million come out in 2010. So, it's really a matter of who turns out more of their supporters on Tuesday.
"There's 63 million Trump voters from 2016 out there. The Republican chances of keeping the House depend upon keeping those presidential supporters coming back out for the Republicans."

Analysts and several polls have concluded the GOP will likely hold its power in the Senate, but the House is a question mark. Democrats need a net gain of 24 seats to regain control in the House.
McLaughlin shared a story about the 2016 presidential election, when he did some work for the Trump campaign. He said during a call with Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law, and Brad Parscale, Trump's 2020 campaign manager, the trio concluded that turnout would be the deciding factor.
"I said if we win the turnout on Tuesday we were gonna win, and that's what happened," he said. "This Tuesday, we have to make sure that we get out."
