Former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin weighed in on freshwoman Rep.-elect Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez's, D-N.Y., latest social media mishap.
"YIKES: Ocasio-Cortez Fumbles Basic Civics TWICE In 1 Statement," the Alaska Republican Palin tweeted, linking to a report from her official website chronicling the controversy.
Ocasio-Cortez, recording a video for social media, mistakenly referenced "three chambers of Congress" and then attempted to correct it by mentioning "three chambers of government."
While speaking to how she aimed to help Democrats regain control in Washington, D.C., in the House, Senate, and the presidency in 2020, Ocasio-Cortez was apparently trying to make a connection to the three branches of the U.S. government: executive, legislative, and judicial.
"If we work our butts off to make sure that we take back all three chambers of Congress — uh, rather, all three chambers of government: the presidency, the Senate, and the House," Ocasio-Cortez said on the video. "We can't start working in 2020."
Ocasio-Cortez shot back at criticism of her gaffe on Twitter on Sunday:
"Maybe instead of Republicans drooling over every minute of footage of me in slow-mo, waiting to chop up word slips that I correct in real-tomd [time], they actually step up enough to make the argument they want to make: that they don't believe people deserve a right to healthcare."
