Sen. Graham: FBI Took Phone After Potential Hack

By    |   Thursday, 02 May 2024 09:07 PM EDT

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., on Wednesday said the FBI took his phone after someone attempted to trick him into thinking a text message came from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.

"My phone is in the hands of the FBI now," Graham said at the Hill & Valley Forum in Washington, D.C., where lawmakers, defense contractors, venture capitalists, and others connected to the national security sphere, gather, reported The Washington Times.

"So I get a message, I think, from Schumer. It ain't from Schumer, and next thing you know, my phone's, I don't know what. Anything you can create apparently can be hacked."

Graham was being asked about spies targeting Silicon Valley and how artificial intelligence labs should prepare themselves.

Taylor Reidy, Graham's spokesperson, told the Times the Senate's sergeant-at-arms "is investigating a possible hack of Sen. Graham's phone."
