Grassley Supports Senate Vote on Mueller Protection Bill

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley this week voiced his support for a bill protecting special counsel Robert Mueller from being fired, Townhall reports.

Sens. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., and Chris Coons, D-Del., introduced the bill to protect Mueller, which passed the Judiciary Committee in April. On Wednesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell blocked the bill from going to a vote.

“It’s legitimate that the bill be brought up,” the senator told reporters on Thursday. “It would satisfy me if it became law because I voted for it.”

“I’m not going to be in forefront with Flake advocating that the leader do so and so, but I wouldn’t do anything to stop it,” he added. “Usually, a chairman of a committee if he doesn’t want a bill brought up can … object to unanimous consent,” he said.
