Officials are investigating package bombs discovered in California and addressed to Sen. Kamala Harris and Democratic donor Tom Steyer, bringing the number of packages mailed out to prominent liberals up to 14, according to local officials in Sacramento and the FBI.
Friday afternoon, the FBI and Sacramento County Sheriff's Department were investigating reports of a package at a Sacramento post office, reports The Sacramento Bee.
The news broke as officials named Cesar Sayoc, 56, of Florida as a suspect in the mailings of a dozen similar packages to key Democratic leaders, including former President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
The post office was evacuated and closed after the package was found, and the incident was one of two scares reported in Sacramento on Friday. In the other incident, also at a postal facility, a package was identified as suspicious, but after authorities called the person expecting the mail, the alarm was determined false.
In Burlingame, California, authorities also are investigating a package addressed to billionaire Steyer, who has called for impeaching President Donald Trump, reports CNN.
