Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., brought in more than $12 million in the first 17 days of October to help in her Senate campaign.
The haul was noted on Twitter by the HuffPost’s Kevin Robillard, who wrote: “After her ‘no’ vote on (Brett) Kavanaugh's nomination, Heidi Heitkamp raised $12.4 MILLION in the first 17 days of October. Of that, $7.5 million was in small donations, per new FEC (Federal Election Commission) filing."
The FEC filing from Heitkamp’s campaign lists net contributions for the entire election cycle of $26.7 million.
“In an outpouring of support for civil and principled politics, Heidi’s received nearly 15,000 contributions this cycle from every corner of our state and 3,000 new volunteers in just the last few weeks," Sean Higgins, a spokesperson for Heitkamp's campaign, told The Hill. "It's simple – while Kevin Cramer will always fall in line with (Senate Majority Leader) Mitch McConnell and the special interests, Heidi will always work across the aisle and only answer to North Dakotans.”
The Hill noted Heitkamp is facing a tough re-election bid against Rep. Kevin Cramer, a Republican.
A Gray Television/Strategic Research Poll, released on Monday, shows Cramer holds a lead of 56 percent to 40 percent over Heitkamp.
