Hillary Clinton's campaign Tuesday retweeted a post by former Marine Dakota Meyer calling on Republican Donald Trump to apologize for attacking the parents of a Muslim soldier who was killed in Iraq.

Meyer, 28, is the Marine Corps veteran who is married to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's daughter, Bristol. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions during the 2009 Battle of Ganjgal in Afghanistan.

Trump has been under fire for attacking Khizr Khan, who bashed Trump's plans to ban Muslims from entering the United States last week at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

His son, Humayun Khan, 27, of Bristow, Va., was killed by a car bomb in Iraq in 2004. He was awarded the Purple Heart and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

The Republican nominee also suggested that Khizr Khan's wife, Ghazala, who said nothing while her husband ripped Trump in his speech, was not allowed to speak because she was Muslim.
