Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had more than a single email account on the private server in Chappaqua, New York,
Fox News reports.
Fox quoted "a prominent member of the hacking community" as saying that a number of email addresses on the "clintonemail.com" domain were found using a hacking tool called "The Harvester." That tool was used to search multiple online sources for the domain name, including such familiar sites as Google, Bing, LinkedIn and Twitter.
Clinton has said she used only the email address hdr22@clintonemail.com for State Department business, but the hacker also found references to hdr@clintonemail.com, hdr18@clintonemail.com, hdr19@clintonemail.com, hdr20@clintonemail.com, and hdr21@clintonemail.com, Fox News reported.
Other variations included h.clinton@clintonemail.com, Hillary@clintonemail.com, contact@clintonemail.com, and mau_suit@clintonemail.com.
Clinton has said her aides, including Huma Abedin, used the @clintonemail.com domain, but it is unclear whether any of the emails uncovered by the hacker were also used by Clinton or by her aides.
The hacker suspected that some of them were.
"Given the sequential similarities to hdr22@ I suspect some others found by my search may also have been used by HRC," the hacker said to Fox News. "I suspect hdr18-hdr21 may have been used by HRC as well as h@clintonemail.com and hillary@clintonemail.com ... I’d also be interested to learn if there were ever hdr1@ thru hdr17@."
That conflicts with what Clinton spokesman
Nick Merrill told Politico on Wednesday.
"Secretary Clinton used one email account when corresponding with anyone, from department officials to friends to family," Merrill told the website. "A month after she left the department, Gawker published her email address, and so she changed the address on her account. … This [new] address on the account did not exist until March 2013, after her tenure as secretary."
But Fox News noted that Rep. Trey Gowdy, chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, has issued a statement reading that his committee "is in possession of records with two separate and distinct email addresses used by former Secretary Clinton and dated during the time she was secretary of state."
