Hillary Cheers New York State Free Tuition Plans

Hillary Clinton continued her support of tuition-free college education on Saturday by tweeting a call to "celebrate" a New York state budget agreement that will allow free tuition for students whose families meet certain income guidelines.

Her tweet was made in response to one from New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who announced the initiative Saturday:

With our first-in-the-nation tuition-free college program, New York has established a national model for access to higher education

Under the new agreement, reports The Washington Examiner, New York's state university system will offer free tuition for families who earn less than $100,000 a year, beginning this fall. The program's eligibility will expand to homes earning up to $110,000 and $125,000 in 2018 and 2019.

Clinton, however, has herself changed her stance on free college tuition. When she was campaigning against Sen. Bernie Sanders for the 2016 nomination, she ridiculed his call for free colleges and universities, but once she got the nomination, she adopted some of his plan, notes the Examiner.

Once she started advocating free tuition, Clinton capped off her own plan at households earning $125,000 or less.
