Hillary Clinton isn't working very hard on the campaign trail, as evidenced by her taking nearly all of August off, conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said Wednesday.
During the opening of his show, Limbaugh questioned what Clinton is actually doing during her presidential bid that is making her so tired and run down that she contracted pneumonia.
"What is she doing? What work is she doing that is so hard she's getting pneumonia for us?" Limbaugh asked. "She doesn't do campaign appearances very much. When she does, she doesn't speak much at them, and she certainly doesn't do press conferences.
"In fact, Mrs. Clinton, who's working so hard that she contracted pneumonia for us, practically took the whole month of August off, except for a couple of fundraising dinners. Man, I guess she's run herself ragged trying to prove that she's as tough and has the same stamina as the 70-year-old Donald Trump."
Clinton appeared to faint — she at least stumbled — while being helped into her campaign van after leaving a Sept. 11 memorial ceremony early. Her campaign first said the heat got to her, but it later disclosed she had been diagnosed with pneumonia a few days earlier.
Clinton took most of this week off and will return to the trail on Thursday.
Limbaugh mimicked Clinton's tendency to use a different vernacular when speaking to African-American audiences as he further made his point.
"Even though she says, 'I ain't no ways tired,' apparently she very tired," Limbaugh said. "Apparently she is willing to get tired and pneumonia for us because she wants to make the world a better place."
Limbaugh's comments come weeks after a survey concluded that nearly one third of Americans believe Clinton's gender is hurting her chances of winning in November.
