Hillary Clinton praised Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly during an interview Tuesday in response to a feud the journalist has had with Donald Trump in recent months.
"I think for me, the way he's conducted his campaign, the things he's said — and he has insulted everybody and he has demeaned everybody," Clinton said on
ABC's "The View."
"His attitude and what he has said about so many women, the way he treated Megyn Kelly — who is a superb journalist. I just don't understand what he thinks is the role of somebody running for president."
"I don't think it is to scapegoat people, to divide people, engage in this kind of prejudice and paranoia. It's not only women, and we, who should be concerned, it's everybody because of the way he conducts himself."
Trump took issue with Kelly's line of questioning toward him at the first Republican presidential debate last summer. He said afterward, "You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever."
Many found the remark sexist.
Trump has bashed both Fox News and Kelly on several occasions since, and even
skipped a Jan. 28 debate that was hosted by the cable news network.
Last month, Trump called Kelly "sick," "overrated," and "crazy" in a
series of Twitter posts.
Fox News responded last month to Trump's personal attacks on Kelly by saying, in part, "Donald Trump's vitriolic attacks against Megyn Kelly and his extreme, sick obsession with her is beneath the dignity of a presidential candidate who wants to occupy the highest office in the land."
