One Person Killed, One Injured in Air Force Jet Training Accident

One person was killed and another was injured in an incident at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico after two fighter jets fired ordnance during a training mission.

According to a statement from the base, personnel on the ground were struck by some type of air-to-surface missiles. Both were taken to the hospital, where one was pronounced dead. The injured person was treated and released.

 

 

The incident, according to the statement from the base, happened on the Red Rio Range on the White Sands Missile Range complex.

The jets involved in the incident were F-16 Fighting Falcons and are based at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona.
