Two Republican candidates would be Hillary Clinton's "worst nightmare" in the 2016 general election, says Hugh Hewitt, a nationally syndicated radio host and author of the new book,
"The Queen: The Epic Ambition of Hillary and the Coming Of a Second Clinton Era."
Hewitt told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on
Newsmax TV that Clinton should "be afraid" of a run against either Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida or Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, two of ten declared GOP candidates.
"Her worst nightmare, in my view? Marco Rubio. Ted Cruz, if he's the nominee. She should not debate [Cruz], he'll kill her," Hewitt said Wednesday. "Sen. Cruz is really set up right now pretty well on the map."

In fact, Hewitt added, Clinton might very well refuse to debate a dynamic candidate like Cruz in the 2016 election.
How would she square that with voters?
"[Richard] Nixon didn't debate in '72. She would say something like, if the Republican Party wants to nominate an irresponsible clone of Barry Goldwater, that's fine, but I'm not going to dignify him. Because he would take her apart muscle and joint," Hewitt said.
Hewitt's book describes Clinton, a former secretary of state, as the most ambitious woman in American history. And he believes she will likely be elected.
"She's the prohibitive favorite. I was on Adam Corolla's show last week and I said, yeah, she's going to be president, and I overstated it because prohibitive favorites falter, right?" he told Steve Malzberg.
"The Yankees don’t' win every year and sometimes the Steelers don't win, so they can falter. But right now, money, machine, most of the media, the map — they all favor her, so she's ahead."
Hewitt believes the title of his book was bailed out by Clinton's formal announcement last weekend that she's seeking the Democratic presidential nomination.
"She acted like a queen on Saturday, she has talked like a queen since," he said, adding that he timed the book to the 500-year-anniversary of the publication of "The Prince," by Niccolo Machiavelli, considered the father of modern political theory.
"I try in "The Queen" to give her the best advice .... This liberal stuff could kill her," he said.
Of Donald Trump's entry into GOP race, Hewitt said the billionaire real estate tycoon and host of "Celebrity Apprentice" is unlikely to get the nod.
"He actually is the id of America, but there's a lot of super ego in there as well. He also called for building a wall in the Mexican border," Hewitt said.
In 'The Queen,' I advise Mrs. Clinton, if you want to let everyone stay, fine, but build that wall because it is the visible expression of an inward conviction that we have to control our borders in an age of terror.
"Gen. [Stanley] McChrystal said that ISIS makes 100 million social media contacts a day. A day. That means they're activating people all over the globe.... So we have to be very cognizant of that southern border and when Trump came out yesterday and said, 'I'm going to build a wall,' home run."
Would Trump consider running as a third party candidate?
I don't think he's going to go [Ross] Perot on us," Hewitt said. "He actually is a patriot and he knows that that would give Hillary the White House."
Hewitt
has been chosen as a moderator for one of the first televised Republican presidential debates this fall.
