IBM CEO Ginni Rometty, Rep. Will Hurd, R-Texas, and former Homeland Security adviser Lisa Monaco are co-chairing a group that the The Aspen Institute  is launching in an effort to address vulnerabilities in cybersecurity nationwide, Axios reported.

The Aspen Cyber Strategy Group effort consists of 35 members in academia, the government, and the private sector, including Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif.; Gen. Keith Alexander, CEO of IronNet Cybersecurity; Monika Bickert, head of product policy and counterterrorism for Facebook; and Lynn Good, CEO of Duke Energy, the website reported.

"We all read about the number of attacks that happen. It feels sometimes almost like a daily basis," Rep. Hurd said, according to Axios, adding that the group aims to go further than politics to develop workable solutions.

Monaco said there was no one-stop place for leaders in government and industry to get advice on cybersecurity issues, and this group aims to fill that position, the report said.

Addressing election vulnerability is one priority, and the group aims to meet in several sub-groups to decide this year’s focuses, the report said.

Other organizations that have teamed up to take on cyberattacks include Microsoft and Facebook.

In December 2017, the Department of Homeland Security revealed that they had disabled a number of new cyber threats, The Motley Fool reported.
