The National Park Service has made public several photos that show the crowd size at the Jan. 20 Inauguration of President Donald Trump.
The NPS was responding to a FOIA request filed by several news organizations. The images are in several batches. Some were taken at and around the Lincoln Memorial the day before Trump was sworn in, while others were snapped the day Trump took the oath of office.
The photos include close-ups of the crowd taken by photographers on the ground and also aerial shots. The latter were the subject of much controversy in the days after the Inauguration when it was claimed Trump's Inauguration crowd was smaller than former President Barack Obama's.
Trump and his team fired back and said 1.5 million people attended his Inauguration, a figure that cannot be verified.
Trump posted an image on Twitter four days after his inauguration of a picture at the Inauguration he planned to hang in the White House press room.
