US to Announce Crackdown on IRS Impersonation Scam

The U.S. government is announcing the arrest and indictment of individuals suspected of scamming taxpayers since 2013 by impersonating Internal Revenue Service officials, a Treasury Department watchdog said.

The Justice Department will unveil details of the crackdown at 11 a.m. EDT (1500 GMT) Thursday on www.justice.gov/live-stream, the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration said in a statement.
