The Internal Revenue Service scandal transcends political parties and should be a major concern to all Americans, according to Scottie Nell Hughes, news director of the Tea Party News Network.
"This is not about a right or a left issue. This is about American citizens' rights,'' said Hughes, whose group was targeted by the IRS.

"That's why we're calling for a complete Congressional investigation . . . This proves that no one is actually immune from this happening to them.''
Hughes said that, for now, she is willing to believe President Barack Obama when he says he was unaware of what the IRS was doing.
"Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and if that's true, then there's very much an inefficiency in taxpayer dollars being spent to fund the IRS,'' Hughes said.
But she added that she fears that the buck doesn't stop at the lower echelon of the agency.
"More than likely this was not just a bunch of minion frat boys sitting around the IRS office in Cincinnati. This was something that goes higher up,'' she said.
"However, do you expect anything less? … All the different corruption and scandal that's happening, that's coming out of the White House, that somehow they magically get to wash their hands … and they don't get any dirt on them.''
She said the scandal is — "something of a Pandora's Box"
"We have to make sure that the other side's being held just as accountable as they would hold our feet to the fire,'' she said.
