Ivy League universities have created courses that are extremely critical of President Donald Trump, the Washington Examiner reported on Monday.
Among the examples cited in the 25th annual Comedy and Tragedy Report put out by the Young America’s Foundation, Columbia University is offering a course on Fascism: Aesthetics & Politics, whose description reads: “The election of President Donald Trump has renewed interest in the examination of fascism - as an ideology, as a political movement and as a form of governance.”
Another course, Histories of the Apocalypse offered by Cornell University, has a description that reads: “From Nostradamus to Nuclear Winter Brexit, immigration, and the election of Donald Trump have all been recently heralded as signs of an imminent apocalypse.”
YAF spokesman Spencer Brown, author of the report, said that in addition to targeting Trump, many courses taught at universities nationwide “advance a liberal agenda, malign conservatives and their values, and shut out ideological diversity.”
He added that the courses revealed in the report “peel back the shiny veneer colleges and universities place on themselves in the name of ‘higher’ education to reveal a stark reality: campuses devoid of intellectual diversity populated with leftist professors, faculty, and administrators intent on indoctrinating the rising generation in the ways of the left.”
The report charges that universities “gleefully release statistics on the diversity of race, gender, and sexual orientation of their faculty while remaining entirely homogeneous when it comes to diversity of ideas," adding that “rather than training the next generation of American leaders, so-called ‘premiere’ institutions graduate class after class of adults who are unable to tolerate opposing viewpoints.”
