Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire has missed the deadline for turning over a report on the killing of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi, which he was required to deliver to Congress earlier this week, BuzzFeed News reports.
The report was to be delivered to the the House Foreign Affairs and Intelligence committees, and the Senate Foreign Relations and Intelligence committees, according to the National Defense Authorization Act that President Donald Trump signed Dec. 20, 2019.
"Our office has asked ODNI about the status of that information and has not received a response," a spokesperson for Senate Intelligence Committee member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., told BuzzFeed News.
"Every case is different," the spokesperson, Keith Chu, added when asked if the delay is normal. "However if the [Intelligence Community] isn't going to comply with the law, Congress needs an explanation."
A spokesperson for ODNI told BuzzFeed News, "As with all requests that come from Congress, we continue to work with them, with our oversight committees to respond."
The CIA has reportedly concluded, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered Khashoggi's killing in 2018. Saudi Arabia has denied Mohammed's involvement.
