James Comey's upcoming memoir, which is expected to savagely bash President Donald Trump, may be headed to a movie theater near you.
The Hollywood Reporter says the former FBI director's book, "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership," is being shopped for a possible film or TV deal.
The showbiz publication reports that Comey's agents, Matt Latimer and Keith Urbahn of the Javelin Agency, were last week "fielding pitches" to agents, production companies and screenwriters in Los Angeles.
Comey's book, published by Flatiron, won't be released until April 17, but its pre-orders have already shot it to the top of the best-sellers list on Amazon.
Trump infamously fired Comey last May after, according to the White House, the rank and file of the FBI had "lost confidence" in him. But some say Comey's investigation into whether the Trump campaign was involved in Russia's meddling in the 2016 presidential race sealed his fate.
Trump brought up Comey over the weekend a day after the firing of FBI director Andrew McCabe, calling him "sanctimonious" and saying Comey "made McCabe look like a choirboy."
Comey shot back: "Mr. President, the American people will hear my story very soon. And they can judge for themselves who is honorable and who is not."
While the contents of Comey's book have been tightly guarded, teasers for the book promise his critique of the scandal enveloping the current administration.
In a publicity blurb for the book, the publisher says: "From prosecuting the Mafia and Martha Stewart to helping change the Bush administration's policies on torture and electronic surveillance, overseeing the Hillary Clinton email investigation, as well as ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, Comey has been involved in some of the most consequential cases and policies of recent history."
