Jimmy Kimmel on Friday praised Sen. John McCain as a " hero again and again and now AGAIN" after saying that he would vote against the latest Republican bill to repeal and replace Obamacare.
Kimmel, who has openly sparred with bill co-sponsor Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, took to Twitter minutes after the Arizona Republican's announcement:
McCain, 81, the six-term senator who is battling brain cancer, said Friday that he would not back the legislation, which also is sponsored by South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham.
Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul has said he’ll oppose the bill and Maine Sen. Susan Collins said she was leaning against it.
Kimmel said he felt a sense of personal betrayal from Cassidy, who went on Kimmel’s ABC show this spring after the host discussed his newborn son’s medical problems.
Kimmel said he believed that Cassidy lied to him about Republican healthcare plans.
Cassidy responded that the comedian was misinformed.
