President Donald Trump's latest job approval rating from Rasmussen Reports has dropped to just 43 percent, the lowest since January of last year, in the midst of the ongoing partial shutdown.

Trump, who is in a standoff with congressional Democrats over funding for a wall on the Southwest border, has seen his approval rating drop steadily since the shutdown began on Dec. 22.

  • Jan. 14, 2019: 43 percent approve; 55 percent disapprove.
  • Strongly approve: 32 percent.
  • Strongly disapprove: 46 percent.

"The president's overall job approval rating has been falling since his Oval Office address last week calling for enhanced border security and the building of a wall to help stop illegal immigration," Rasmussen notes. "This is his lowest daily approval rating in nearly a year."

  • Jan. 3, 2019: 47 percent approve; 51 percent disapprove.
  • Dec. 21, 2018: 49 percent approve; 50 percent disapprove.
  • Jan. 8, 2018: 42 percent approve; 56 percent disapprove.

Rasmussen polled 500 likely voters from across the country by phone per night, "reported on a three-day rolling average basis," and a full sample size of 1,500, and a margin of error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.
