Biden Planning New Book After Presidency

By    |   Friday, 17 January 2025 06:42 PM EST

President Joe Biden is planning to write a new book detailing his time in the White House and the historic decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race, NBC News reported and the White House confirmed.

While Biden has been in politics for over half a century, he will likely be remembered for his poor debate performance last June, the aftermath of which left the Democrats scrambling for a replacement and his career ending with ceding the full balance of power to the Republicans.

Biden has since claimed that he could have beaten Trump and that the party apparatus that replaced him with Vice President Kamala Harris was mistaken in doing so. When ask by USA Today if he could have won, Biden replied, "It's presumptuous to say that, but I think yes," Biden said, adding he based that view on polling he had reviewed.

The book will be an opportunity for Biden to clarify his thought process of the pivotal decision to drop out of the race and list his accomplishments despite losing not only the White House but the Senate as well.

Biden closed out his presidency with the second lowest post-World War II approval rating of 42.2%, besting President-elect Donald Trump by 1 point.
