Vice President Joe Biden feels Donald Trump's comments throughout the course of the campaign are discouraging,
and he told Billboard that "when I listen to some of the stuff Trump says, it just makes me sad."
"It's never, never been wise to try and appeal to the darker side of human nature," Biden said. "Abraham Lincoln was right — it's about appealing to our better angels. That's who Americans are and that's what they want."
Biden said that Trump's stirring up anger among his supporters is "the antithesis of everything this country is about."
The subject of Trump has come up often at Biden appearances. He took a comedic swing at Trump at the annual bipartisan Gridiron Dinner,
reported Time. He referenced New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's support of Trump by saying, "Tonight I call on Donald Trump to be a man of his word and release Chris Christie now. It's not right. It's simply not right."
At the AIPAC meeting,
the Washington Post reported that Biden defended Israel and slammed Trump again.
He said, "It is incumbent on all of us to stand up to those who would peddle in pernicious stereotypes, who seek to scare and divide us."
"The future," Biden said, "belongs to the bridge builders, not the wall builders."
