White House chief of staff John Kelly has “hissy fits” that “hurt the morale” of West Wing staff, according to former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci.
"He hurt the morale inside the place and he’s hurt the president. And he has hissy fits," Scaramucci, who was fired by Kelly less than two weeks after taking a job in the White House, told NBC's “Meet the Press” on Sunday.
"The good news is, I’m being vindicated by that because he’s demonstrating his personality now, the way he really is," he continued.
CNN reported last week that Kelly got into “a heated argument” with national security adviser John Bolton outside the Oval Office that “turned into a shouting match.”
Scaramucci has repeatedly criticized Kelly in the press since his firing, accusing the retired Marine general of forcing out senior White House aides, and calling for him to resign after reports emerged that Kelly knew of allegations of domestic abuse against former staff secretary Rob Porter long before White House officials claimed they were aware.
“He didn’t need to fire me the way he fired me. … There was a better way to fire me, but he was trying to make a spectacle out of it, and so he got the spectacle that he wanted,” Scaramucci said on Sunday.
He added that the president “needs a chief of staff, but he needs a chief of staff that really likes him and gets his personality.”
