Jon Stewart Mocks Obamacare Website, Scolds Democrats

By    |   Tuesday, 22 October 2013 03:41 PM EDT

Democrats needed only a "mildly competent implementation" of Obamacare to soar in the polls and toss Republicans out of office, "The Daily Show’s" Jon Stewart said Monday night.

But they couldn't do even that.

During a 10-minute spoof of the debacle that is Healthcare.gov — the website for Americans to sign up for medical insurance under the Affordable Care Act — Stewart mocked the Obama administration for the myriad problems with the site, including long delays, error messages, and duplicate enrollments.

And that's if you’re lucky enough to be able to log on.

Among other glitches, the software reports spouses as children.

"What kind of computer program forces you to marry your own children?" Stewart needled.

He pointed out that a recent poll shows more Americans think Obamacare has been repealed than have been able to sign up for the program. Less than one in 10 people has successfully enrolled.

He even noted that the Delaware woman the president highlighted during the news conference, who had navigated the sign-up process, took seven days to complete the task.

In the end, Stewart posed a biting rhetorical question: "So, how are the Democrats going to spin this turd?"
