Judicial Watch Uncovers $182M Spent on 2,400 Illegal Kids

By    |   Tuesday, 09 December 2014 06:03 PM EST

Just 2,400 of the surge of nearly 50,000 unaccompanied illegal alien children who flooded the U.S. southern border this year cost taxpayers the staggering amount of $182,129,786 — in just four months in only two military bases in Texas and Oklahoma.

Using the Freedom of Information Act, Judicial Watch discovered that Baptist Children and Family Services (BCFS) received $86,846.34 per child, or $104,215,608, for minors housed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and an additional $64,928 per child, or $77,914,178 for those housed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

The tab also included $2,648,800 for 30 members of BCFS's "Incident Management Team" or $88,293 per member for working for four months.

At Fort Sill, BCFS lavished $75 per day for three meals and two snacks for each of 1,200 UACs (Unaccompanied Alien Children) and 822 staff members, for a total cost of $18,198,000, while Judicial Watch notes that the average cost of feeding a U.S. teenager according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture is just $10 per day.

At Fort Sill, the bill included $104,215,608 for 1,200 beds, $6,765,000 for hotel accommodations for the 822 staff members, $1,120,400 for medical items, $180,000 worth of "recreational items" such as board games and soccer balls, $180,000 for "educational items" such as crayons and paints," $200,000 for laptops and $160,000 for 800 cell phones "with international call capabilities and radio."

At Lackland, they set up cable television at a cost of $20,000, made sure that each kid could call home twice per week, at a cost of $576,000, and spent $80,000 on extra shower stall heads.

"It is outrageous that the Obama administration spent nearly $200 million of taxpayer funds to provide illegal alien children with the types of extravagant, high-tech equipment and lavish benefits many American families cannot even afford for their own children," Tom Fitton, Judicial Watch president, told Breitbart News.

"And very few American workers are bringing home the $80,000 the Obama administration pays the BCFS's Incident Management Team for just four months' work."

The BCFS's contract continues until Sept. 30,2016, Judicial Watch notes, with Fitton adding, "Obama’s lawlessness resulted in an illegal alien 'surge' that has cost taxpayers tens of millions of dollars in 2014.

"Based on his new lawless amnesty plans, we can expect hundreds of millions more in taxpayer costs for the resulting wave of illegal aliens trying to take advantage of Obama’s illegal nullification of our nation’s immigration laws."
