WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange told Fox News in an interview aired Wednesday that his organization is still working through the documents it plans to release that might damage Hillary Clinton's presidential hopes.

Speaking via satellite, Assange told "The Kelly File" host Megyn Kelly that WikiLeaks is currently assessing the veracity of the documents and deciding how they will be released, including whether they will be released in one large batch or in stages.

But whatever the decision, they will be released before the November 8 presidential election, he said.

"It's a variety of different types of documents from different types of institutions that are associated with the election campaign," Assange said, adding that there are "some quite unexpected angles that are quite interesting – some even entertaining."

Asked whether they could be a game-changer in the election, in which Clinton currently leads Republican Donald Trump in most national and swing state polls – Assange said, "I think it's significant. It depends on how it catches fire in the public and in the media."

WikiLeaks released emails the night before the this summer's Democratic National Convention began in which it was shown that Democratic officials worked against Clinton's main challenger, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

The leak led to the resignation of DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and other high-ranking officials.

Dana Perino, former spokeswoman for President George W. Bush and a Fox News host, told Kelly she expects WikiLeaks to release the data the night before the third and final presidential debate since most people watch that debate and Clinton would be forced to answer questions about it.
