President Donald Trump is keeping his promise to clamp down on illegal immigration, Sen. Katie Britt, R-Ala., posted on X.
"The Trump Administration's first full day of ICE enforcement was larger than any day in four years of the Biden Administration," Britt wrote. "Promises made, promises kept."
Britt said ICE made 308 arrests of illegal immigrants across the U.S.
"These arrests were nationwide in every area of interest and included several murderers, rapists, sex offenders, and kidnappers," Britt said, noting ICE pulled off the arrests even with much of the nation in a deep freeze. "ICE also went to jails and ordered almost 300 additional aliens to be released to ICE custody rather than our nation's streets. Common sense is back."
Border czar Tom Homan echoed the 308 number in an interview, shared by the White House.
"Some of them were rapists. Some of them raped a child," Homan said. "ICE is performing excellent right now out in the field, and they're going to continue every day."
Homan said on Trump's first full day, the number of apprehensions at the southern border fell to 766.
