The Federalist is claiming New York Times reporters who detailed alleged sexual misconduct by Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh erred in their reporting.

An excerpt of the book, “The Education of Brett Kavanaugh: An Investigation,” by reporters Robin Pogrebin and Kate Kelly appears on The Atlantic website.

But The Federalist’s Senior Editor Mollie Hemingway said it contains “a major error.”

The excerpt details an alleged incident where Kavanaugh, while a student at Yale, was said to have exposed himself to classmate Deborah Ramirez during a party.

They reporters wrote that the people who allegedly witnessed it “have kept mum about it.”

But Hemingway noted that’s not true.

She pointed to a 2018 article co-authored by Ronan Farrow in The New Yorker.

The article said: “One of the male classmates who Ramirez said egged on Kavanaugh denied any memory of the party. The other male classmate who Ramirez said was involved in the incident commented, “I have zero recollection.”

And The New Yorker story noted: “In a statement, two of those male classmates who Ramirez alleged were involved in the incident, the wife of a third male student she said was involved, and one other classmate, Dan Murphy, disputed Ramirez’s account of events.”

Hemingway had posted on Twitter: “Guess who caught the New York Times’ Kavanaugh authors in another huge error?” President Donald Trump retweeted her post.

The Times, in an earlier story about the reporters’ book, had noted another alleged incident involving Kavanaugh. The newspaper later revised the story to note the woman in the alleged incident declined to be interviewed and friends say she did not recall it.
