Presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway said Tuesday she'd like to know why Democrats are afraid to have a citizenship question included on the national census in 2020.
"I hear they are screaming rhetoric," Conway told Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "But truly, what are you afraid of? I ask that all the time. What are you afraid of? Why wouldn't you want to know who is living in this country and who is a citizen and who is not a citizen?"
Conway pointed out that the Supreme Court didn't issue a legal impediment to the citizenship question, but instead to "come back and give us a different rationale."
"Why can't we just ask the question the way it was asked for 50 years before the Obama administration yanked it out of there?" she said. "Think of all the questions that nobody complains are included in our U.S. Census every 10 years that include far fewer Americans and invasive. Asking how many toilets in your house and who is using them? It's absolutely ridiculous."
Conway also Tuesday accused Democrats of being "unserious" on immigration because there has not been a hearing set on immigration, and blocked humanitarian aid several times before approving $4.6 billion in aid.
Also Tuesday, Conway poked at the divisions between House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and four freshman Democrats, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, saying they're having a "huge catfight" and having "meow moments."
"They preen around to detention centers saying 'oh, my God, look what's happening' and then they vote against $4.6 billion worth of aid, including the Democratic package," she said of the freshman four.
