Kellyanne Conway: Mueller Testimony 'Insult to Taxpayers'

(Fox News' "America's Newsroom")

By    |   Monday, 22 July 2019 02:22 PM EDT

Former special counsel Robert Mueller's upcoming congressional testimony is a waste of money and an "insult" to American taxpayers, presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway said Monday.

"This idea that we need Bob Mueller to come to Congress to read from his report is an insult to the taxpayers, it's an insult to Americans' intelligence and it's an insult to director Mueller," Conway told Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "It's an insult to democracy."

She added President Donald Trump has "zero concerns" about Mueller's testimony before the House Judiciary and Intelligence committees, except "taxpayers are on the hook again for this fantasy that never came true."

Conway also railed about the on-going feud between Trump and four Democratic congresswomen, after the president tweeted this morning they should apologize to the United States and Israel for the "horrible, hateful things they have said" and accused them of destroying the Democratic Party.

"I've been taking on these congresswomen for a while on policy and will continue to do so," Conway said. "I was one of the earliest and loudest voices calling out the four of them; they were the only four in the entire Congress to vote against any type of humanitarian aid for the border. It was a disgrace, a wrong vote."

She also complained "nobody fact checks" the congresswomen – Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., and Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich.

"They are four Pinocchios walking around," said Conway, complaining Rep. Ocasio-Cortez seems like she wants to call everyone a racist when she does not get her own way.

"You saw those blind polls last week about her from Democrats saying she is a joke and has no power," Conway said. "People are tired of all the star power and no substance."
