Kentucky Gubernatorial Race Neck-and-Neck

By    |   Friday, 03 November 2023 12:48 PM EDT

Kentucky’s gubernatorial election remains neck-and-neck between the two top candidates, Democrat Gov. Andy Beshear and his GOP challenger, state Attorney General Daniel Cameron.

The race for governor of Kentucky has become a possible signifier of next year’s presidential election as Beshear, a Democrat who supports President Joe Biden, faces off in a close election against Cameron, a Republican with the backing of former President Donald Trump.

The latest polls in the state, including one from Emerson College and a local Fox affiliate, show the candidates are dead even with 47% support each, with Cameron holding a single-point advantage over Beshear among undecided voters.

“The race between Biden cheerleader Andy Beshear and Trump-backed Attorney General Daniel Cameron continues to tighten,” Cameron spokesperson Sean Southard told the Washington Examiner.

Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams, who is supporting Cameron, told Politico: “You’ve got two totally different strategies. Beshear’s strategy is a more traditional strategy: Hold your base and reach out to the center. And the attorney general’s strategy is really more about base mobilization. And they both have precedents on their side to support their approach.”
