The news of a massive migrant caravan moving through Mexico is disturbing, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said Wednesday, but he is more worried about what will happen Nov. 6 if Democrats retake the House.
"If we are not successful on Nov. 6, think what it would mean with a Nancy Pelosi as speaker," McCarthy told Fox News' "Fox & Friends." "How large would the caravan start on the 7th?"
Democrats, he added, want to end the Immigration and Customs Enforcement presence in Pelosi's own home city of San Francisco.
"San Francisco allows illegals to vote in school boards," McCarthy said. "I put a bill up . . . to condemn that action (and) 140 Democrats voted no or present on that action . . . The same thing they did when we put up about helping ICE stop fentanyl coming across [the border]."
McCarthy also discussed the bipartisan opioid bill coming up for an Oval Office signature Wednesday.
"We have lost more Americans to opioids than we did in the entire battle in Vietnam," he said. "This is breaking the fiber of this nation. This gives greater access to care. It gives greater enhancement and encouragement to create a new relief for pain that is not addictive. It helps encourage and gives power to the government to stop that fentanyl coming into our country."
